TRON CEO Justin Sun was able to take home a carbon-neutral digital art made by Beeple for 6 Million USD and able to outbid everyone on CarbonDrop, the three-day auction of non-fungible token (NFT) artworks.

Sun is now a proud owner of an NFT artwork called “Oceans Front” and the proceeds of the NFT artwork auction will be going to climate change causes of Open Earth Foundation.

What is NFT?

NFT stands for a non-fungible token (NFT) which is a unit of data on a digital ledger called a blockchain, where each NFT can represent a unique digital item. These digital items can be in a form of digital art, videos, video game skins, digital collections, and other types of digital work.

Some of the popular NFT’s that were sold were from artists like Grimes, Beeple, celebrity Logan Paul, the creator of Nyan Cat, and other digital artists.

Earlier this month, digital artist Beeple was able to sell an NFT artwork called “Everydays: the First 5000 Days” for 69,346,250 USD and it is the first NFT to be sold by a legacy auction house, and the first sale at Christie’s that can be paid in ETH.

With Justin Sun owning the “Oceans Front” NFT artwork, not only he purchased one of the best digital NFT’s out there, but he was also able to support a good cause of the Open Earth Foundation.

Sun mentioned that he plans to collect more NFT’s in the future.

NFT future of artworks?

Yes, though we still believe that traditional artworks would still be there even at this period of time where everything is now digital and NFT’s provide an alternative way of owning a masterpiece directly from its artist.

NFT’s are getting bigger and gaining more attention these days and with cryptocurrency entrepreneurs like Justin Sun owning a piece of NFT’s, it looks like these non-fungible-tokens would be the next big thing when it comes to digital art or anything NFT related collectible.
