BitTorrent, one of the leading global software companies which are known for its torrent client software just released the newest BitTorrent File System version 1.5.0 which includes the much-awaited node repair mode.

Let’s see what’s new with BTFS for January 2021.

What is new with BTFS?

One of the new features of the BTFS v.1.5.0 is the node repair mode. The BTFS node repair mode is primarily used for fixing file shards within the BTFS network which are lost due to offline host nodes or deletion.

What happens is an uploaded file will be converted into 30 file shards based on the BTFS algorithm and help complete a file without any issues.

Asides from the node repair mode, BTFS offers rewards for hosts using repair mode and every BTFS user would just simply enable BTFS node repair mode on its settings.

What is BTFS?

BitTorrent File System is the first scalable decentralized storage system. It is under the TRON network and it is one of the most important blockchains & DApp platforms in the world.

Users of BTFS can earn a TRON TRC-10 cryptographic token called BitTorrent Token (BTT) by running a BTFS node and it acts as a general cryptocurrency for transacting in computing resources shared between BitTorrent clients.

BitTorrent is based in San Francisco and founded on September 22, 2004, by Bram Cohen and Ashwin Navin. It is the largest decentralized P2P communications protocol for distributing data and large files over the Internet.

In 2018, BitTorrent was acquired by TRON Foundation and continued to provide support for their BitTorrent and uTorrent clients.

BitTorrent started the year on the right track with this new update and it would definitely be a useful feature for all of their users. We definitely look forward to more new features in the next following months.
