The Tron community was anxiously awaiting the introduction of the Apes on the Tron blockchain. The Apes, which originated on the Ethereum blockchain, made their way to Tron via the Bored Ape Tron Club on Friday September 3, 2021. This marked a historic day for Tron as the release of the Apes via the Bored Ape Tron Club broke the record for the fastest NFT sellout in Tron’s history.
Record Breaking Minting Event
The minting event for the Bored Ape Tron Club sold out in 12 hours. That’s right. It took only 12 hours to sell 10,000 Apes at 1500 TRX each. This is a record breaking feat for the team behind the first Bored Apes on Tron. No other NFT project on Tron has accomplished this. Tpunks and TronMeebits, who have both done exceptionally well since their launch, took significantly more time to sell out.

The minting event did have its hurdles to overcome. The team behind the Bored Ape Tron Club had to pause minting for a brief duration to adjust the energy fee limit as some transactions were failing. But the team did what they felt was right. They announced on their Twitter account that they would reimburse any individuals who experienced any failed transactions due to this issue. A form was released where these users can submit their claim. From that point on, the minting went on until completion, marking a record for the NFT platform on the Tron blockchain.
Establishing the Apes
The Apes rapidly gained attention on social media, thanks to their unique custom inclusions to the set in addition to the rest that paid homage to the Ethereum counterpart. The Bored Ape Tron Club version included several high demand pieces of art that started to garner the love from the Tron Community. As part of their set, they included 45 artistically envisioned Ape NFTs that paid tribute to Justin Sun, Tron Bull, and a few of Tron’s beloved friends such as Warren Buffett, Vitalik Buterin, and Kobe Bryant. Those familiar with Tron know Kobe’s impact on Tron during the niTron 2019 conference. Within these 45 inserts, they included the masterpiece, the “Legendary” Kobe Bryant variety. This is a beautifully designed tribute to the legend with a basketball in hand and angel wings. It’s beautiful!
As popularity rose, the community continued to grow. Their Telegram group is now close to 700 members and their Twitter has 1,600+ members. And these are real members, not paid members nor bots. Feel free to join their groups and check it out for yourself. This group, in my opinion, has one of the best communities in Tron. You’ll feel welcomed the minute you join. It is a healthy and caring community which is what is needed to grow an NFT platform.

Sneak Peek into the Apes
So what is next for the Apes? Well, we have been asking the same question. And we have gotten a response. Although I can’t share everything, I can give a few glimpses into what they are up to. Once their marketplace is upgraded, which should be in the next day or two, they will release their second of three installments. The Mutants are coming to the Tron Blockchain.
The mutant release will include 120+ unique NFTs that you can only find in the Bored Ape Tron Club edition. These will include your favorites from Justin Sun to the delirious Dr. Jeckyl Ape(Dr. Fauci) who is looking to take the Apes into the next dimension. It will also include some rare hunts dedicated to someone whose story touched a lot of Tron enthusiasts.
One thing that the team emphasized was that their main objective is to bring value to the OGs(slang for original gangstas). This part I was asked not to disclose. So I won’t go more in detail. But the mutants will lead into a very exclusive series that is 100% inspired by the Bored Ape Tron Club.
The Future of the Apes
The future of the Apes looks bright. With a top notch community led by many Tron OGs along with the friendly and inclusive community that they are committed to nurture and grow, there is a lot of potential for this crew. Keep an eye on them as I am sure there will be many surprises in the months ahead. And remember, community is ultra critical for the NFT space. Without community, your chances of success are minimal.
