Frontier, a cryptocurrency and DeFi wallet, announced that its latest v5.4 update now supports the BitTorrent Chain and it is one of the three networks to be added to its platform.

The Frontier Wallet v5.4 would allow the BitTorrent Chain to have complete native wallet support from Frontier and users would now be able to send and receive BTT on their wallets and also swap BTT to other supported tokens.

Asides from the BitTorrent Chain, they also added support to Fuse and Evmos blockchains.

What is Frontier Wallet?

Frontier is a cryptocurrency and DeFi wallet where it allows users to send, store and invest in over 4,000 cryptocurrencies across 25+ blockchain networks.

Users can send and receive cryptocurrencies on the wallet which also allows them to earn passive income on their accounts by staking or supplying assets in the DeFi apps.

Besides cryptocurrencies and NFTs support, Frontier has its own utility token called FRONT and a total supply of 100 million. FRONT used to provide incentives to its users into using the wallet and exploring the DeFi space.

They are a non-custodian wallet which makes it a safe cryptocurrency wallet for everyone and as mentioned on their website, when it comes to transaction fees and what sets them apart from the other wallets, the Frontier wallet does not charge a fee when you swap, lend, supply liquidity or buy cryptos through the application.

Ravindra Kumar the CEO and co-founder of Frontier, was a smart contract developer Android developer who was previously the CTO of InstaDApp and Woodstock.

What is BitTorrent?

BitTorrent is based in San Francisco and was founded on September 22, 2004, by Bram Cohen and Ashwin Navin. It is the largest decentralized P2P communications protocol for distributing data and large files over the Internet.

In 2018, BitTorrent was acquired by TRON Foundation and continued to provide support for their BitTorrent and uTorrent clients.

Last December, BitTorrent announced that they are launching the first scalable heterogeneous cross-chain interoperability protocol called BitTorrent Chain and this has resulted in the BTT redenomination plan that led to the creation of the BTTC which was the new native token of the BitTorrent platform.

The BTT redenomination plan redenominated old BTT with a swapping ratio of 1:1000.

Last October 12th, BTT was one of the several TRC20-based tokens that become the authorized digital currency of the country of Dominica.
